Mauritania reinforces its contribution to UNPKO with SG F

27/08/15 The 730 Mauritanian peacekeepers trained by Sovereign Global France (SG F) for the United Nations operations in Cote d’Ivoire (ONUCI) and Central Africa Republic (MINUSCA) have been qualified by the United Nations (UN) and are ready for deployment.

The successful deployment of its very first 140 national guards-strong Formed Police Unit (FPU) for ONUCI in August 2014 has led the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to trust SG F with the preparation of its entire MINUSCA contingent: one infantry battalion (450 men) and one FPU (140); and the relief unit of its ONUCI contingent.

These units are now ready for deployment after having passed the UN pre-deployment visits in August 2015.

Two years after its first assistance contract with SG F, Mauritania has become one of the leading African troop and police contributors to UN peacekeeping operations. As part of its UN assistance and preparation programme Sovereign Global France will now provide operational maintenance and assistance during the UN quarterly control visits.
